The purpose of the lesson was to build awareness about water safety, the importance of learning to swim and to ultimately prevent drowning.

“Swimming Lessons Save Lives,” was the theme for the event, now in its second year. Spokesman for the event is Rowdy Gaines, 3 time Olympic Holder and 11 Time World Record Holder.  The headquarters for the event was at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.

Marcella Miciano, The Swim Academy Director, stated, “This gives us a golden opportunity to bring our message of water safety to an entirely new level. We teach and preach this every single day, so the chance to reach more people is very exciting. The Swim Academy and Camp Sagemont are proud to be a part of this amazing event.”
