Marine Science Camp will expose your child to unique hands on experiences to a wide range of life system properties related to our oceans. We will start our exploration in the core of our oceans. Campers will examine the diversity of marine ecosystems and the biogeochemical cycles that produce them, through active explorations and age appropriate activities. As we dig deeper into each type of marine ecosystem, your child will learn about the physical, chemical and biological challenges each ecosystem presents and the specially adapted creatures that live among these environments through simple and safe, fun experiments. After mastering these ecosystems, the focus will shift to the relationship between humans and the ocean. Marine Camp will conclude with learning about the recourses and benefits the oceans give to humans and their related conservational issues. By the end of the four weeks campers will possess the knowledge and skills to live as a fully rounded steward of the ocean. Marine Science campers will also participate in camp-wide activities such as daily swimming, visits to the video arcade, special presentations, weekly Friday spirit assemblies and Color War. Campers will participate in weekly field trips to different marine related venues such as a coastal excursion with the science eye at John Lloyd Park, Ann Kolb Nature Center, FAU Marine Center, Biscayne Nature Center, and more.
