FAQs

Welcome to Camp Sagemont’s “Frequently Asked Questions” section.  Below are questions and answers that we feel will help you when making a choice to enroll your son or daughter in one of our popular summer programs.  If you have further questions, please call us at 954-384-1894.

What are the camps hours of operation?
Camp Sagemont Hours of Operation:
All Camp Programs: 9:00am-3:30pm
Summer School: 9:00am-12:00pm
Early Care: 7:30am-9:00am
After Care: 3:30pm-6:00pm

What are the ages/grades of campers? 
Camp Sagemont offers programs for campers ages 3 to 13 including grades PS3 to 8th grade.  The Leader in Training Program is offered to those entering 9th or 10th grade.
Are the groups co-ed and/or divided by age?
In grades PK3 through Kindergarten, the bunks are co-ed.  In grades 1st through 3rd, campers are in all boy or all girl bunks by grade.  All of our other specialty camp programs are co-ed.
Will friends be together if they both sign up for the same camp?
You may request for your child to be placed with another specific child.  Please indicate this on our registration form where it states, “If possible, please place my child with_____ .”   One mutual request is guaranteed (assuming they are age appropriate for the program.) 
Can I schedule a tour of the camp facilities?
Please call the Camp Director at 954-384-5454, ext. 3403 or the camp office at 954-384-1894 to arrange a tour of our camp facilities including our air conditioned athletic center/dome and outdoor pool.
Can I register my child(ren) for Camp Sagemont if they don’t attend The Sagemont School?
Of course!
How can I register my child(ren) for Camp Sagemont?
You can register online using the camp Website or you can register using the paper application form and submitting it to our camp office or by mailing the paper application via traditional mail. Click on the link "Register" at the top and/or left of this page.  Here, you may either complete the registration process online or click a link to find a printable application and other required forms.

Can I register for camps on a weekly basis?
Yes.  The programs that you can register for on a weekly basis include our traditional day camp known as Camp Sagemont, Junior Travel, Senior Travel and Sports Camp.  There are also “Unique Camps” that are one and two week specific camps including CSI Detective Camp, Glee Camp and Stomp It Band Camp.
What are my payment options?
Payment options include credit cards, checks and cash.  If you register and pay online, you may pay using either a credit card or your PayPal account.
What kind of credentials are required for the staff?
Camp staff are hired based on prior camp experience and/or prior experience in working with children. Once hired, all camp staff must undergo a level 2 background check. Prior to camp beginning, all camp staff are required to attend a staff training session where policies on supervision, allergies, weather conditions, safety/fire drills/lock down, first aid, daily procedures and customer service are discussed. Key camp personnel are CPR/AED certified.
My child has a medical condition that requires medication.  How do I inform Camp Sagemont?
Please indicate any allergies or medical conditions on the registration form. The only medications that are allowed are EpiPens, anti-itching cream, inhalers and cough medicine.  These medications must be submitted to our front office and clearly labeled with the camper’s name and instructions for use. Parents will be required to complete a Medication Authorization Form at the time the medications are submitted. Forms will be provided by our front office.
What are my child’s options for lunch?
Lunch is not included in the camp tuition.  Campers will have the option of either bringing their own lunches or choosing from a pre-order/pre-paid menu from a local vendor.  Camp Sagemont will provide pizza lunch on Fridays.  Camp Sagemont provides daily snacks.
What types of field trips are offered?
Depending on the particular camp program, campers may go to venues such as the movies, museums, water parks, rock climbing, go-karting, sports facilities, snorkeling, canoeing, boat tours, etc.  Sagemont School air-conditioned buses with seat belts and CDL certified Sagemont School bus drivers are utilized for trips.
What clothing do campers need?
Campers should come to camp in comfortable clothing such as shorts, t-shirts, tank tops and sneakers. Campers should also pack a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen (if needed), flip flops/water shoes and swim goggles (optional). Please make sure that all camper belongings are clearly labeled with their names.
What are the drop off and pick up procedures for Camp Sagemont?
If dropping off campers for Early Care, they can be checked in as early as 7:30 am in our front office.  Regular camp drop off begins at 8:45 am.  Parents who wish to walk campers to their bunks daily, can wait in the gazebo in front of the school until our front gate is opened and then proceed to the bunk.  Parents who choose to use the car pool lane, may do so beginning at 8:45 am.  Counselors are available to assist campers out of the cars and will escort them as needed.
What should I do if I need to pick up my child during regular camp hours?
Please inform our front office in advance if you need to dismiss your camper early for a particular day.  An early dismissal form will be completed and given to the Senior Counselor identifying the camper, day and time of early dismissal.  At the time of the early dismissal, please come to the camp front office and provide office staff with your camper’s name so they may be called for early dismissal.  You will need to provide identification and sign the camper out for the day.
What is the rainy day dismissal procedure?
If there is severe weather in the area (rain and/or lightening), parents will need to park their cars and come inside to pick up campers. Red flags will be posted and/or camp personnel will direct parents as needed.
Do you offer ESL Classes in Summer School?
English as a Second Language classes are offered only during our second session of camp from 9am-12pm. An ESL/Camp Combo is also offered for a full day.
Do you offer Swimming Lessons?
Swimming lessons are offered. Please contact our on-site swim company, The Swim Academy, at 954-384-4500 for swim lesson information and arrangements.
Do you offer Camp Days during school holidays throughout the year?
Camp Days are offered during Teacher Planning Days and during Winter and Spring breaks.
How can I apply to work at Camp Sagemont?
Although the minimum age required to work at Camp Sagemont as a paid employee is 16 years old, most of our camp staff are certified teachers and college students. Interested candidates must complete and submit an employment application for consideration. Applications can be obtained through our front office. Candidates with prior camp experience and/or prior experience working with children will have preference.
